Students in grades 1-8 who score below the 30th percentile on the MAP Reading and/or MAP Math assessment.
Students with an active IEP or 504 plan (documentation required).
Student Action Team referrals.
*MAP testing will occur three times each year. Therefore, students may "graduate" from Academic Support OR be added for support throughout the school year.
**All parents will participate in an initial conference prior to services beginning.
Can a student qualify for accommodations without Academic Support?
Yes. Classroom accommodations can be implemented without qualifying for Academic Support.
Students who have previously received accommodations, doctor recommendations (documentation required), and teacher recommendations guide accommodations.
Mrs. Arthurs will monitor and adjust accommodations as needed.
If a student has received services in prior years, does s/he automatically qualify for Academic Support?
No. Students must meet requirements to receive Academic Support. Mrs. Arthurs will continue to follow up with students who previously received services to make sure academic growth continues.
Is there a fee for Academic Support?
Currently, there is no fee for Academic Support.
Students will continue to participate in Accelerated Reading (AR). We will administer the STAR Assessment quarterly to set individual AR goals. We will celebrate AR success each quarter...Stay tuned!
The Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) Assessment will be administered three times a year (Fall, Winter, Spring). The scores are used to show yearly growth in Reading, Math, and Language. The assessment will guide Academic Support students, classroom instruction, and small group learning.
