Academic Support

Who qualifies for Academic Support?

  • Students in grades 1-8 who score below the 30th percentile on the MAP Reading and/or MAP Math assessment.
  • Students with an active IEP or 504 plan (documentation required).

*MAP testing will occur three times each year.  Therefore, students may "graduate" from Academic Support OR be added for support throughout the school year.

**All parents will participate in an initial conference prior to services beginning.

Can a student qualify for accommodations without Academic Support?

  • Yes.  Classroom accommodations can be implemented without qualifying for Academic Support.
  • Students who have previously received accommodations, doctor recommendations (documentation required), and teacher recommendations guide accommodations.
  • Mrs. Arthurs will monitor and adjust accommodations as needed.

If a student has received services in prior years, does s/he automatically qualify for Academic Support?

  • No.  Students must meet requirements to receive Academic Support.  Mrs. Arthurs will continue to follow up with students who previously received services to make sure academic growth continues.
