School Uniforms

THE APPEARANCE OF THE STUDENT AND THE UNIFORM IS A REFLECTION OF OUR SCHOOL. Uniforms are required for both boys and girls in grades one through eight. Shahid’s Uniform Store, West Ashley is the sole supplier of Blessed Sacrament School uniforms. ALL uniform knit shirts, sweatshirts, P.E. shirts and shorts MUST have the Blessed Sacrament School emblem.

All children in grades one through eight must be in complete uniform on the first day of the school term, and continue to wear the uniform until the last day of the school year.

No extreme hair lengths, styles or colors will be permitted for boys or girls. Collars must show on boys. Hair must not impair vision for either boys or girls.


Jewelry is restricted to small earrings/small hoops. Holy medals on thin chains may be worn. Make-up including all nail polish, fake nails, French nails, etc. is not allowed.

ONLY navy blue sweatshirts with the school logo are allowed at school. Other colors of sweatshirts are not allowed. Hooded or oversized sweatshirts, shirts, etc. are not permitted.

Shirts and blouses must be tucked in neatly all the time so that the waistline is visible. Girls' skirts must touch the knees. Regulation shorts must be walking length, i.e., knee length.

Girls wear navy knee socks, navy tights, or plain white “crew” socks; boys, navy “crew” socks. Crew socks are labeled "crew" socks on the package, and must be three inches above the ankle at all times. Students may not shorten the socks by folding them under. SPORT/ANKLE SOCKS are not acceptable.

On days when alternate attire is permitted, students are expected to dress modestly and in a manner appropriate for a Catholic school. Failure to comply with directives will result in the student calling home for a change of clothes. Shorts are prohibited between November and March.



Uniform Description

GIRLS:

Grades 1-5: Plaid jumper, a plain (no lace) white blouse with tailored or peter pan collar, long or short sleeves, or white knit shirt with embroidered school logo; navy knee socks, navy tights, or plain white “crew” socks; navy sweater with school logo or navy sweatshirt with school logo. During cold weather, black, or navy tights may be worn.

Grades 6-8: Plaid skirt, knee length (this rule applies for the entire school year – please anticipate this when purchasing skirts); a white tailored blouse, long or short sleeves, or white knit shirt with the school logo; navy knee socks, navy tights, or plain white “crew” socks. During cold weather, black, or navy tights may be worn.

BOYS:
Grades 1-8: Navy dress regulation slacks with a solid black, navy or brown belt; white shirt or white knit shirt with the school logo, long or short sleeves; navy “crew” socks.

 

OPTIONAL ATTIRE - BOYS AND GIRLS:

Navy dress walking shorts with a belt and white blouse or knit shirt (with embroidered school logo) may be worn from the beginning of school until November 1 and from April 1 until the end of the school term.



SHOES:
Shoes for both boys and girls are to be solid, without colored ornamentations
.


GIRLS:
Solid black, brown, cordovan, navy leather or black suede closed-toe shoes with backs. Solid white or black leather canvas tennis shoes WITHOUT colored ornamentations of any kind may be worn. Heel height of shoes may be no higher than 1 ½”. Black shoes with thick heels and soles (which scuff the floors) are not allowed. Clogs or flip-flops are not allowed at any time during the school year.


BOYS:
Solid black, brown, cordovan or navy leather or suede closed-toe shoes. Solid, without colored ornamentation, black leather tennis shoes. Shoes are to be securely tied. Skateboard shoes, flip-flops, clogs are not allowed at any time during the school year. Shoes are to be securely tied.

Caution: Thick soles on boy's shoes are usually white. Boy’s shoes with thick white soles are not permitted.

TAG DAY GUIDLEINES

  • Clothing may not advertise alcohol, cigarettes, drugs, entertainment groups or the like.
  • Shirts/tops must be long enough to be tucked in and must be tucked in. NO muscle shirts or tank tops.
  • "Oversized shirts" worn over another top or shirt may be worn "untucked". Girls' tops must have straps of two or more inches wide and may not be low cut.
  • Shorts must be walking-length; athletic shorts, pants, or athletic suits are not allowed.
  • Skirts, skorts, and dresses must be at least the same length as uniform skirts.
  • Jeans may ONLY be worn between November 1 and March 31, and must be clean and neat.
  • Regulations regarding make-up and jewelry still apply.
  • Non-regulation shoes may be worn, but NO flip-flops, sandals or open toed shoes.

These guidelines will apply for ALL Tag Days including Birthday Dress Downs.



P.E UNIFORMS

P.E. uniforms are purchased at Shahid’s Uniform Store.

During warm weather: solid navy blue nylon or cotton shorts, knee-length, gray tee shirt with the school logo (from Shahid’s Uniform Store) and tennis shoes – no skateboard shoes. All shoes must be securely tied.

During cool weather – navy blue sweatshirts and knit or nylon sweatpants with the school logo are worn.

Tennis shoes must have laces and should not have an elevated heel.

Since P.E. classes are held outdoors, parents/guardians should direct their child(ren) to dress comfortably for the weather.
