BSS HISTORY

Blessed Sacrament School, part of the educational mission of the Roman Catholic Church, serves primarily Blessed Sacrament and St. Joseph parishes. Students of all faiths are welcome. Since the Sisters of Saints Cyril and Methodius and the members of Blessed Sacrament Church opened the doors for the first class in 1948, faith, citizenship, and learning have been the focus of Blessed Sacrament School. Having provided for quality education in a Catholic environment for generations, Blessed Sacrament School is accredited in compliance with the Diocese of Charleston and affiliated with the National Catholic Education Association.

Parish Hall:

  • Both restrooms renovated to be ADA accessible
  • New dropped ceiling
  • Moved Extended Day Director's office
  • New stage curtain
  • Complete kitchen renovation
  • All new kitchen appliances and equipment
  • All new tables and chairs

Roof:

  • First and Second Grade Buildings: replace with new, slightly pitched roof  

Main Building Classrooms:

  • put in thermal pane, tinted windows

Primary Grades Playground:

  • Moved existing playground materials to new location (formerly the Butterfly Garden).
  • Thousands of dollars of new equipment ordered and installed in new location.

RENOVATIONS SUMMER 2001

Library:

  • removed section of dividing wall to open up space
  • put in new thermal pane, tinted windows
  • dropped the ceiling
  • changed to fluorescent lighting
  • changed to a heat pump system for heat and a/c
  • repaired damaged tile
  • upgraded and added to the electrical system
  • added conduits for later expansion of phone lines for computers
  • created an office for the librarian
  • added a storage closet

Tuition Office:

  • created an office near the main school office
  • dropped the ceiling
  • changed the fluorescent lighting
  • repainted the walls
  • put in a fire coded door
  • created a storage area

Main School Office:

  • moved the office to the right of the main door
  • created a waiting area inside the office
  • expanded the work space
  • moved the fax line to the office
  • put in new, thermal pane, tinted windows
